Culture Days & Orange Shirt Day

Join us in celebrating Culture Days and Orange Shirt Day from September 27-30!

Culture Days (Sept 27-29) raises the awareness and engagement of Canadians in the cultural life of their communities.

Orange Shirt Day (Sept 30) raises the awareness of and educates Canadians about the residential school system and the impact this system had on Indigenous communities for more than a century.

First Nations & Métis Relations, the Library, and Representative Workforce have joined together to offer the following activities:

• Cultural Responsiveness Contest
  • Enter in person at one of our events or online by Oct 4 for a chance to win a $100 gift card (contest prizes funded by grants from the Saskatchewan Library Association)
  • Enter by submitting one of the following:
    • Photo of oneself participating in Culture Days activities or Orange Shirt Day in SHA
    • Written entry on how Culture Days activities in SHA impacted your work
    • Written commitment to implementing a TRC Call to Action in your work (check out the SHA Commitment to Truth and Reconciliation)


• KAIROS Blanket Exercises (what is a KAIROS blanket exercise?)
  • Prince Albert - Victoria Square Building, Upper Room - September 27 from 11:30 to 2:30 p.m. - Lunch provided - register by email
  • Regina - Pasqua Hospital, First Nation and Métis Health, Healing Centre - September 27 from 1-4 p.m. - register by email
  • La Ronge Health Centre - Large Room - September 30 from 1 to 3 p.m. - register by email
  • Saskatoon - St. Paul's Hospital, Room G30 (C wing) - September 30 from 1:30 to 4 p.m. - register by email

  • Visit one of our displays to learn more about culturally responsive care
    • Saskatoon City Hospital - Courtyard - September 27 to 30
    • Victoria Hospital, Prince Albert - near the Main Entrance - September 20 to October 4


• Staffed Information Booths
  • Visit one of our information booths to learn more about culturally responsive care, enter our contest, and speak with staff from First Nations & Métis Relations, the Library, and Representative Workforce
    • Victoria Hospital, Prince Albert - Outside of Emergency - September 26 from 1 to 3:30 p.m.
    • Saskatoon - Royal University Hospital, Cafeteria - September 27 from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
    • Regina General Hospital, Cafeteria - September 27 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m
