Mission

Saskatchewan Pediatric Endocrinology and Diabetes Program Mission: to provide interdisciplinary, high quality, pediatric diabetes care to children and families throughout the province of Saskatchewan, from diagnosis through transition to adult care.

Goals

Saskatchewan Pediatric Endocrinology and Diabetes Program Goals:

  • To provide information and clinical support to children & families to increase their self-management skills at each stage and age of diabetes.
  • To monitor for short- and long-term complications of diabetes including mental and psychosocial complications.
  • To provide comprehensive support to children and families to meet their emotional/psycho-social needs.
  • To empower children and families to be able to educate other caregivers, friends, and staff in schools and in other venues in managing their child’s diabetes.
  • To advocate for improvements in diabetes care and access across the province.
  • To provide diabetes-related education for trainees, allied health members, families, and the community.
  • To engage in meaningful diabetes research that may contribute to improvements in diabetes care.
