About App of the Month

Librarian reviewers from Saskatchewan Health Authority and Alberta Health Services consider the audience and purpose of the apps, as well as highlighting additional features:

  • In the ‘Evidence’ section, we assess how easily the user can identify the app’s currency and support from the evidence
  • In the ‘Usability’ section, we assess the organization of information and other usability factors that may contribute to user experience

Our complete grading criteria is embedded in the review.

Note: Reviewers are not healthcare professionals and don't appraise the quality of any recommendations within the app. Reviews are not meant as endorsements.

Stated Purpose

“EvidenceAlerts is a continuously updated repository of current best evidence from research to support evidence-based clinical decisions.
All articles from 112 premier clinical journals are pre-rated for quality by highly trained research staff, then rated for clinical relevance and interest by at least 3 members of a worldwide panel of practicing physicians. Only the strongest studies and systematic reviews are selected for EvidenceAlerts; less than 1 in 10 published articles makes the grade.
EvidenceAlerts does not cover basic science, and is providing clinically relevant new evidence to practicing physicians more than a comprehensive literature database for researchers.” (EvidenceAlerts website, 2022)

“Use the mobile EvidenceAlerts app to get notified when you receive new alerted articles, to view your saved articles, and to search the complete EvidenceAlerts database.” (Apple Store; Google Play)

This app will be useful for any healthcare professional and anyone working with health personnel interest in receiving regular evidence-based information on a particular topic.  It is essentially a current awareness health marketing tool.
