The website is the Main Library and 95% of the resources are electronic. These resources are provided by the SHA, SHIRP (Saskatchewan Health information Resources Program), and relevant evidence-based open access are integrated into the online collection.

The library provides instructional support in research, evidence-based practice, literature searching and more.

Saskatchewan Health Information Resources Program (SHIRP) resources, which are available on our website, are licensed by the University Library of the University of Saskatchewan for educational, research, and non-commercial personal use by:

  • Licensed health care practitioners in Saskatchewan
  • Current students, faculty and staff of the University of Saskatchewan, University of Regina, and Saskatchewan Polytechnic
  • Employees of the Ministry of Health, eHealth Saskatchewan, Saskatchewan Cancer Agency, and Health Quality Council

Systematic copying or downloading of electronic resource content is not permitted by Canadian and International Copyright law.

The Library is accessible both in-person and virtually. The Library Safe Use and Conduct Guidelines are intended to ensure that our space and resources are used in a manner consistent with the vision, mission and values of the Saskatchewan Health Authority Library. 

  • Onsite: Use of the electronic resources is available to all staff when connected to the SHA network.
  • Remote access: Staff and students affiliated with the SHA and physicians practicing within the region are eligible for a personal library card number.
    • This number is for individual educational or research purposes only. Sharing access violates the Library's and SHIRP's license agreements.
  • Libraries are open to all during staffed service hours.
  • The print collection is freely accessible for anyone to use within the library. Staff and students affiliated with the SHA and physicians practicing within the region can borrow materials in accordance with the Library's borrowing rules.
  • Access is available for approved individuals. Those not registered for physical access will be asked to exit the library at the close of regular service hours. Children are not permitted during unstaffed hours.
  • Clean computer keyboards before and after use using the wipes provided
  • The Library is not responsible for unattended items
  • Library doors must remain closed and locked during unstaffed hours
  • Only service animals are allowed in the library
  • Keep it contained: Drinks with secure lids only
  • Dispose of waste and recyclables properly using the containers provided
  • Keep food away from the computers

Of our 7 locations:

  • The Regina General Hospital Library offers space for both quiet study and collaborative work
  • The Pasqua Hospital Library and the Wascana Rehabilitation Centre Library are designated as quiet branches

In the designated quiet zones, we request that you:

  • Limit conversation
  • Speak quietly
  • Turn cell phones & beepers to vibrate
  • Use cell phones outside the library

Library staff try to manage noise levels in relation to the type of space. Let us know about disruptions, or contact security during unstaffed hours. Security numbers are posted at the computer stations.

COVID-19 Library Site Temporary Closures and Service Updates

It is business as usual throughout the library’s website. Working from home? Get a Library Card Number to use the licensed resources remotely.

  • Teaching and instruction offered via Webex.
  • Book loans available. Contact us to borrow books from other SHA Library locations.
  • CANCELLED: Onsite attendance for rounds and patient education. Support available through email.
  • All locations now require badge/prox card access for entry where available.
  • Food is no longer allowed in any of our locations.
  • The following locations are temporarily CLOSED:

Borrowing Books at the SHA Library

  • Checkout books from one of the SHA Library Locations during staffed hours (Mon to Fri from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm) 
  • Contact us if you cannot make it to the library. We'll send you the book(s) via mail or to a different pick-up location
  • Books can be signed out for 3 weeks. Renewals are possible so long as there are no holds placed on the item(s)

Self Checkout Procedure During Unstaffed Hours

Index Card

To sign out books during unstaffed hours, you will have to do the following:

  1. Open the book and remove the index card on the back cover
  2. Print your first & last name, phone number, and the date borrowed 
  3. Deposit the card in the wall slot of the CoM Room or leave it at the front desk
  4. Take the book(s) with you

Browse the CoM Collection Online

The CoM collection at the Regina General Hospital - RGH OB (map) is dedicated to the College of Medicine students, clerks, and residents. You may access this room on a 24/7 basis with your security ID badge. Popular titles include:
