SHA Library

The personal information on collected for Library registration is to provide a means to authenticate you to the online resources, and to contact you about your access when necessary.

The information collected will confirm your agreement to the terms and conditions of online use. If you have any questions or concerns about the information collected or how it will be used, please contact us.

Saskatchewan Health Information Resources Program (SHIRP) resources, which are available on our website, are licensed by the University Library of the University of Saskatchewan for educational, research, and non-commercial personal use by:

• Licensed health care practitioners in Saskatchewan
• Current students, faculty and staff of the University of Saskatchewan, University of Regina, and Saskatchewan Polytechnic
• Employees of the Ministry of Health, eHealth Saskatchewan, Saskatchewan Cancer Agency, and Health Quality Council

Systematic copying or downloading of electronic resource content is not permitted by Canadian and International Copyright law.

• Onsite: Use of the electronic resources is available to all staff when connected to the SHA network.
• Remote access: Staff and students affiliated with the SHA and physicians practicing within the region are eligible for a personal library card number.
  • This number is for individual educational or research purposes only. Sharing access violates the Library's and SHIRP's license agreements.

• Libraries are open to all during staffed service hours.
• The print collection is freely accessible for anyone to use within the library. Staff and students affiliated with the SHA and physicians practicing within the region can borrow materials in accordance with the Library's borrowing rules.
• Access is available for approved individuals. Those not registered for physical access will be asked to exit the library at the close of regular service hours. Children are not permitted during unstaffed hours.

• Clean computer keyboards before and after use using the wipes provided
• The Library is not responsible for unattended items
• Library doors must remain closed and locked during unstaffed hours
• Only service animals are allowed in the library

• Keep it contained: Drinks with secure lids only
• Dispose of waste and recyclables properly using the containers provided
• Keep food away from the computers

Of our 7 locations:

• The Regina General Hospital Library offers space for both quiet study and collaborative work
• The Pasqua Hospital Library and the Wascana Rehabilitation Centre Library are designated as quiet branches

In the designated quiet zones, we request that you:

• Limit conversation
• Speak quietly
• Turn cell phones & beepers to vibrate
• Use cell phones outside the library

Library staff try to manage noise levels in relation to the type of space. Let us know about disruptions, or contact security during unstaffed hours. Security numbers are posted at the computer stations.

• Teaching and instruction offered via Webex.
• Book loans available. Contact us to borrow books from other SHA Library locations.
• CANCELLED: Onsite attendance for rounds and patient education. Support available through email.

• All locations now require badge/prox card access for entry where available.
• Food is no longer allowed in any of our locations.
• The following locations are temporarily CLOSED:
  • Jim Pattison Children's Hospital, Saskatoon
  • St. Paul's Hospital, Saskatoon (no prox card access available)
  • Victoria Hospital, Prince Albert

Library Card Number

• Provides you with remote access to all electronic library resources when prompted.
• Request a library card number.

Mobile Apps

• Remember that a number of library resources are also available to download to your mobile device.

LibKey Nomad

• LibKey Nomad is a great tool to access full-text articles from anywhere.
• When downloading LibKey Nomad, enter "Saskatchewan Health Authority" for Organization"

Google Scholar Library Links

Option 1:

• Go to Google Scholar and click on the bar menu icon in the top-left corner.
• Click on "Settings" and then "Library links".
• Enter "Saskatchewan Health Authority" into the search box, select it and click "Save".
• Now an "SHA Library" link will appear next to the search results that the Library has access to.

• This browser extension automatically sets up SHA Library links in Google Scholar for you
