Getting Started with EndNote

The SHA Library reviews requests for EndNote licenses for individuals and teams conducting intensive research projects like systematic reviews. Contact us if you need EndNote. In all other cases, we recommend using Zotero.

Alternatively, you may choose to directly purchase a license through the vendor, Clarivate.

  1. Download and install the software. Note: For SHA computers, you will need to contact the eHealth Saskatchewan Service Desk or your local IT department for installation.
  2. Register an EndNote account to enable cloud storage, sharing, and synchronization of your reference libraries between devices and other EndNote users.
  3. Launch the software and follow the on-screen directions.
  4. You should be prompted to create a new library. If not, see the next section of this guide "Create a New Library"
  5. Enter your EndNote account details to enable sync features by clicking on Edit Preferences > Sync.
  6. Enter your username and password in the fields provided, then click "Enable Sync".
    • Tip: Check the box "sync automatically."
